Safe to Sit Network

You don’t have to be a foster parent to foster care in our community!

Each district and each school within the district includes families in need, and families who would help if they only knew how.

The Sunny Side Safe to Sit Network connects vetted volunteers with displaced children. We work with each school to build our program with strength and flexibility. We provide transparency in our service and confidentiality for our clients. Our On-Call roster will be scheduled to flex with the needs of each school, and each school will have their own lead staff and PTA Sunny Side liason.

Agents of CHAOS

A Safe, Healthy Community starts with Safe, Healthy Homes.

Agents of CHAOS (Creative Housing Alternatives Opted for Sanctuary) is a co-op of realtors, property owners, housing managers, mortgage lenders, and others connected to the housing market.

Join SSOTSI in our mission to realize innovative solutions to create short-term and long-term sanctuaries for our community.

Something Small has the power to connect Humans through Trauma to Peace.

Help get fidgets for survivors into our emergency rooms, police stations, classrooms, and shelters.

The Super Human Project

“Having a brain that works differently doesn’t only mean you can’t do things that others can. It can also mean you can do things that others can’t.”

The Sunny Side Super Human Project develops opensource curriculum and delivers interactive educational experiences. We connect the neuro-divergent with the flipside of their typically-perceived disadvantage. Like every human, we have some things that are naturally challenging, but we also have superpowers!

SSOTSI would love to equip your patients, clients, caregivers, students, and staff with this lens that allows every human to realize just how uniquely powerful they can be.

Love in Every Season

Though Sunny Side’s Sock Drive is promoted primarily in the months matched with retailers’ Fuzzy Sock season, our partners and clients benefit from this gift year round. Help keep our supply strong so we can consistently distribute your Kindness to those experiencing poverty, homelessness, displacement, and abuse. For many who are understandably afraid of touch, it is like a safe and long overdue hug.

  • This Simple gift communicates so much more than physical warmth including:

    My needs are important.

I am worthy of practical basics, but also of Quality and Comfort.

    I am Unique.

    I Deserve to have Choices.

I decide what Best looks like for Me.

  • Purchase your donation and message us for delivery or drop-off information.

Visit our Donate page and make a monetary contribution, listing Foot Hugs in notes section.

  • Host a Drive through your neighborhood, friends and family, business, organization, or group. Message Sunny Side and we will get you printed or printable promotional materials.

If your organization or clients could benefit from Foot Hugs, report the number gathered to Sunny Side, but retain as many as you need.

Hosts are also welcomed to specify the desired recipients in their Drive’s promotion and in their distribution through Sunny Side.

It all started with an invitation.

In November 2021, Steven Tulipana generously offered to share recordBar with my music and the introduction of a non-profit that was, at that time, just an idea.

The potential power of this opportunity brought with it the responsibility to make the most of it. I thought,

“I’ve got a stage. Now what can I do with this? Who can I share it with? What will this experience say?”

I realized I needed to not only share but to even shift the spotlight primarily to other artists who were already out there feeding our Souls. To the organizations who were already tirelessly serving our community.

My Partners.

The event needed to communicate in action the Spirit of the Sunny Side-

It’s not about me. It’s about All of Us.

Thus was born SunnySide SunDays event production and its first program, the Mine the Light Street Meet.

Our first Mine the Light Street Meet was on January 30th, 2021 at recordBar. Local musical legends Calvin Arsenia, Sisterbot, and Nicole Springer set the scene. Partners represented included Hope House, MOCSA, b.hive, Band of Angels, Cherith Brook Catholic Workers, Oasis, ReDiscover, No Shame, I Support the Girls KC, and more. Those in attendance were encouraged to donate to or invest in the “Light Mine” of their choice, be it artist or organization. The enthusiastic response to the idea and to the event decided that our next Street Meet will be at a larger venue and include more organizations.

SunnySide SunDays helps to facilitate the creation of formats for events that nourish and inform our community. Though the MLM Street Meet is the first to be developed and realized, we know it is not the only construct that has the capacity to serve in this way. Our next production will be at Tyler’s House in Shawnee Mission in April, is exclusive to its Clients, and will be primarily designed and directed by its students and sponsors.

If you or your business, organization, or group would like to sponsor, collaborate, and create your own SunnySide SunDays production, reach out and we’ll get started!

I am Mine.

Know your Worth. Own Your Agency.

Family isn’t always DNA.

Love isn’t always Romance.

SSOTSI is giving new meaning to “Matchmaking Service” to address the public health crisis that affects us all when Homes and their Humans are not Healthy. Having a partner in parenting and providing must not be married to the condition of being sexually attracted or romantically attached to that partner. For those single parents who would benefit from having a partner, Sunny Side is developing a database to allow clients to meet compatible potential matches and develop symbiotic relationships. We are also connecting to the region’s realtors and property managers to negotiate flexible contracts and develop workable terms to serve these uniquely-formed and non-traditional families.

Healthy HomeMakers will be developed through April, and available in May.

“I’m sending up signals of hope from the smoke of all the bridges that I’ve burned.

I would build You a suit of armor out of every lesson I’ve learned.”
